Vaporesso Xros 4 Review: Better Than the Xros 3 and 4 Mini?
17th Jul 2024
Vaporesso has for a few years been a leading manufacturer designing some of the most intuitive and user-friendly kits for all levels, but particularly beginners. With high-performing batteries, compact nature and a sleek framework, the Xros Series is one of the best collections from Vaporesso to date.
At the time of writing, there are eleven from the Xros range, including the Xros Pro, Xros Cube, Xros Nano and the very first Xros Mini. While we loved the form factor of the Xros 3 Mini we previously reviewed, that hasn’t stopped Vaporesso from introducing the Xros 4 and the Xros 4 Mini to the market. How Does the Xros 4 From Vaporesso Compare to the Others in the Xros Series?
As with brands that release technology, whether vape devices, televisions or smartphones, they tend to release one after the other with a stroke of genius or innovation sometimes to keep things interesting. Vaporesso is a bit like that with the Xros devices.
All fantastic as singular devices, but as a series there is not a huge amount of groundbreaking change between the first and the eleventh in the series (the Xros 4 and 4 Mini).
Of the minis in the series (Xros Mini, Xros 3 Mini and Xros 4 Mini), they are not much smaller than the standard flat pod kits and the Xros Cube or Xros 3 Nano.
The battery capacities are mainly between 800mAh to 1000mAh, with the Xros Pro the exception at 1200mAh.
In addition, the power outputs are between 11W to 30W depending on the model, but again there is not a wealth of difference in throat hit, smoothness or cloud production.
The Minis in the Xros series are auto-draw only while the rest of the kits can switch between activating via the mouthpiece or fire button.
The majority of the devices support a wide range of coils (0.6, 0.8, 1.0 and 1.2 Ohms) but it’s only the Xros Pro and the new Xros 4 that supports the new 0.4 Ohm coil, which tends to last a little longer and has slightly more powerful flavour.
How to Use the Xros 4 Pod Vape Kit: Simple Setup Guide
- Switch on the device with five clicks of the fire button. It’s the same as turning the device off when ready.
- Press the fire button four times to lock the device and unlock it efficiently for added safety.
- For charging, push the type-c cable into the port on the side of the Xros 4 and underneath at the base of the Xros 4 Mini.
- While the 4 Mini is auto-draw only, the Xros 4 offers both fire button and auto-draw capabilities.
- To add e-liquid, the top pops off effortlessly, which is a major benefit of refillable pod systems, so you can add the vape juice bottle dropper of choice into the e-liquid port.
- Adjust the airflow with the switch located on the back of both devices.
- A simple three-stage power output system of low, medium and high is activated by pressing the fire button three times. Once you click three times, the lowest power output will flash. Click it once to flick between the three and then press three more times to select your favourite!
How Does it Vape?
For those who love direct-to-lung vaping, this is not the kit for you, as the airflow is designed to be more restricted and only lightly loose for a restrictive direct lung at best. Because you have so many interchangeable preinstalled coils inside the fixed pods of 0.6, 0.8, 1.0 and 1.2 Ohm (0.4 for the Xros 4 series).
Both vape enough cloud and amazing flavour, particularly when paired with the new Vaporesso Deliciu nic salt e-liquids as we have come to expect from the likes of Vaporesso, but the two kits (Xros 4 and Xros 4 Mini) are practically the same.
The standard-size Xros 4 is slightly bigger but this is because of the electronics needed to hold the three-stage power output, which you don’t have on the mini version. The mini version is more for beginners because there is nothing to do in terms of setup or use.
In comparison, the Xros 4 has the power output adjustment button so you can pick a different output and therefore cloud production and flavour intensity to match your chosen fixed pod. It gives a little more flexibility and adaptability overall than previous Xros kits we’ve seen.
Vaporesso Xros 4 Appearance and Build Quality Overview
No complaints about the design at all! Fast charging in only 30 minutes, its very stylish appearance matches the practicality Vaporesso provides for vapers. Available in a wide range of striking colours, the material feels smooth to hold in the hand. The pods pop out with ease and highlight the e-liquid level remaining with a very clear and wide pod.
All the different resistances are comfortable to vape because of the slightly curved and wide mouthpiece. We love the fire button and power output indicator, which also lights up neatly to indicate the battery level. Overall, it looks very impressive but is also discreet, lightweight and ergonomically designed.
What are the Advantages of the Vaporesso Xros 4 Vape Kit?
- Fast charges in only 30 minutes to full 1000mAh battery capacity
- Plenty of pod resistances to pick from, all with fixed coils ranging from 0.4 Ohm (Xros 4 and Pro only) up to 1.2
- Lightweight and simple to use
- Fantastic flavour and instinctive power output system
Are There Any Clear Disadvantages?
- It would be handy considering it’s aimed at beginners if there was a puff counter on the Xros 4
- The battery could be larger than the mini considering the size difference, so it’s a little odd that both have 1000mAh capacity
- Doesn’t cater to all vaping styles like the Vaporesso Luxe XR Max, which we reviewed here
Verdict
To summarise, the Xros 4 highlights why Vaporesso remains at the top of the pod kit market. As a standalone device, regardless of vaper level, whether you’re brand new to vaping or seeking a kit that’s easy to vape at a more intermediate stage of the smoking cessation voyage, the Xros 4 and 4 Mini are both very user-friendly and affordable.
The Xros 4 stands out more because of the power output system, which is much easier than scrolling through an incremental system where you change the output by 0.5 watts at a time like most pod kits. Just select between low, medium and high power and away you go!
We love how it performs and looks, and think it’s great value as a kit considering you get two pods to get you started.
