New Year’s Resolutions for Vapers
28th Dec 2016
Now that Christmas is over it’s time to look ahead to the arrival of 2017 and start thinking about goals to set for the coming year. With the new year acting as a blank slate and the perfect opportunity for a fresh start, what better time to come up with some vaping resolutions for the year ahead?
The main goal of new year’s resolutions is self-improvement, so keep this in mind when setting your resolutions for 2017. It might be that there’s a niggling bad habit that you’ve been wanting to stop but resolutions don’t always have to be about giving something up, you might decide that this is the time to start something you’ve been putting off.
Whichever resolutions you decide on, the important thing is that you’re able to stick to them and they’ll remove (rather than add) stress to your life. These goals should improve your situation rather than make it more difficult and complicated, so don’t be tempted to make a huge list of habits to break and hobbies to start, only to feel completely burnt out and exhausted by the end of January because you’ve taken on to much. It’s better to choose just two or three manageable tasks that are really important to you - perhaps one thing to give up, one thing to start and one thing to help those around you.
We know firsthand how tricky it can be to stick to resolutions and how many of us can’t keep the momentum going after a few weeks of miserable January weather and the gloomy ‘back to work’feeling but we’re behind you every step of the way and are here to help keep you motivated however we can. We’ll be following this post up with another instalment at the end of January, sharing some of our best advice to help you stay on track and achieve your resolutions even when your motivation might be waning a little.
Now, let’s talk vaping. To help you get the most out of vaping in 2017, we’ve come up with a few vape-related resolutions that might inspire you to try something new in the months ahead.
1. Experiment with New E-Liquid Flavours
One you’ve discovered an e-liquid that you love it’s so easy to stay within your comfort zone and vape nothing but your familiar favourite. However, there are so many flavours out there that it’s always worth trying something new every so often. Who knows, you might discover a brand new favourite.
Alternatively, why not try mixing complementary flavours together to create a brand new blend that’s totally personalised to your taste? We posted a handy guide on mixing e-liquids earlier this month, complete with a set of our own recipes if you aren’t sure where to start.
2. Attend a Vaping Event
If you’re looking to socialise more in 2017 then attending one of the many UK-based vaping events is a great start. You’ll meet like-minded people, learn more about vaping and get a sneak peek into some of the latest and greatest vaping innovations. Later in the year we'll be sharing details of some of the most exciting events 2017 has in store but a few that are already on the calendar for the first half of the year are Vape Jam UK (April 2017 - date TBC), which is a three day event at London’s ExCel centre, and Vape Collective (May 2017 - date TBC), which is a community-driven event that takes place in Doncaster.
3. Clear Out Your Stash
Hands up, who’s guilty of storing overflowing boxes of vaping gear around the house that you fully intend to tidy up as soon as you have a spare minute? Well, as a bank holiday is coming up it’s the ideal time to set aside an hour or so to go through your vaping equipment and have a good old tidy. E-liquid that’s well past its expiration date? Chuck! Vaporiser that you’ve been meaning to try but have left in its packaging for the past year? Use it or lose it!
If your collection of vaping gear is getting a little out of control then streamlining your stash is a great way to kick off the new year. Plus, it’s one of the only resolutions on the list that you can achieve in a single afternoon!
4. Get Involved in the Community
If you’ve been hoping to meet more vapers but you aren’t able to attend a vaping event then never fear, all is not lost. The vaping community is close-knit, supportive and welcoming, which is one of the reasons we’re so grateful to be a part of it. The best thing of all? It’s entirely possible to be an engaged member of the community even if you don’t know a single vaper in your local area.
When it comes to meeting fellow vapers, online is the place to be! So many exciting, important discussions are held on social media every single day, there are more Facebook groups than you can shake a stick at and forums that move so fast they’ll make your head spin. Whatever medium you feel most comfortable with, you’re sure to find a vaping community so hop online and find your tribe.
5. Reduce Your Nicotine Intake
This is one that we see cropping up time and time again when vaping resolutions are discussed so we’re sure a few of you already have it in mind. After switching to vaping and kicking any cravings, the next step many vapers take is to gradually reduce their nicotine level by purchasing a lower strength e-liquid every few weeks or months. How long it will take you to reduce the level is completely down to your personal situation so the important thing here is that you don’t compare yourself to anybody else.
Slow and steady is always a great way to tackle big changes so never feel as though you have to drop your nicotine strength overnight, just because your friend who vapes went from 1.8% to 0% in the space of 48 hours (or so they say!). Take your time and remember to adjust to each strength before you move down to the next.
